Sunderland No.101

No.101 (Blackpool No.703) was built for Blackpool Tramways as No.240 in 1935 by English Electric Co. as a streamlined open topped double decker, but was rebuilt with an enclosed upper deck in 1942. It became 703 in 1968 when all of the Blackpool tram fleet was renumbered.

It was withdrawn in 2009 and transferred to the Lancastrian Transport Trust who arranged for it to be painted in Sunderland red and cream livery. It arrived at Beamish in 2010 where it was launched into traffic as Sunderland No.101 on October 18th 2011. It was withdrawn on January 25, 2015 when it was found to have a cracked tyre and was transferred back to the Blackpool Heritage fleet in early 2017.

The model was made from a Hadfield's Balloon plastic kit and is fitted with a Halling C chassis.
