Oporto No.196

No.196 was built in 1935 by the Companhia Carris de Ferro do Porto, Porto, Portugal where it ran until sold, after an accident, to Beamish in 1989 for parts to restore No.114.

When examined it was found to be too good to use for parts so it was restored and painted in Gateshead livery until 2012 when it was overhauled and repainted in its South Shields inspired livery.

The model was made from a shortened Bachmann Brill tram body and is fitted with a Halling Vario chassis.
